• EYE CARE
      • Steps to Apply Eye Shadow
      • There are two basic ways to apply eye shadow in shape shading, "rounded" and "winged. If you don't have much room between the crease of your eye and your eyebrow, then you need to use the winged shape (unless there is some sagging).

      • Winged Shading
        • Looks best where the skin towards the corner of the eye is not sagging such as on younger women, because their skin is still firm.

      • Round Shading
        • Use when your brow bone markedly curves around the eye and don't use the winged style because it will make any sag more obvious.

      • Eye Shadows Applications
      • Rounded Eye Shadow Application
          1. Highlighter eye shadow across the eyelid, from the lash line to slightly beyond the crease, and all the way to the eyebrow.
          2. Mid tone eye shadow to the eyelid and smudge under the bottom eyelashes.
          3. Accent eye shadow in the wedge at the outer corner of the eye and blend well.
          4. Line upper and lower lashes with eyeliner pencil.

      • Tips to Enhance Your Eyelid Shape
      • These eye shadow tips will help you figure out the shape of your eyelid so your eye make up application can enhance your natural beauty. The shape of your eyes and eyelids determine which part of the eye area you need to shade or highlight. Something that everyone can do regardless of eyelid shape is to apply high lighter to the brow bone (above the eyelid and below the eyebrow). Now, the amount of visible eyelid will determine whether you need to highlight your eyelid or apply eye shadow to shade it.If you are not sure about your eyelid size, go to the nearest mirror and take a good look at it. Is it puffy or just right?! Make sure you are looking at yourself squarely and not at an angle. Then come back and compare with the pictures below

      • Eye Shadow Tips to Shade and Highlight
      • Prominent Eyelid
        • If you have this eyelid, make the eyelid look smaller and thinner. So shade the eyelid and the crease of the eye and highlight only below the eyebrow, not the eyelid.

      • Hooded Eyelid
        • With this type you want to make it look like there is more eyelid. Apply high lighter on the eyelid to make it look larger. Shade the crease of the eye only and spread the eye shadow outwards to join the corners of the eye.

      • Deep Set Eyes
        • This is the most versatile shape because you can either highlight or shade the eyelid (of course, you don't want to do both at the same time ;-). Make sure you shade the crease of the eye and apply high lighter just under the eyebrow.

      • Eye Brow Shaping
      • Eye brow shaping, in the make-up application process, should be done before applying foundation, concealer and powder to the face. Make-up artists consider eyebrows and eye brow shaping as the most important facial feature, because well defined eye brows will frame the eyes, make them look bigger and give the face a polished look. Shapeless and messy eyebrows can ruin any make-up effect you try to create. You can have a facialist wax them, but first be sure she knows which shape you want. Although there are many choices, the most elegant brow shape is long, clean, and natural. The main purpose of eye brow shaping and removing unwanted hair from the eyebrow area is to create a flattering arch that enhances the eye.

      • Eye Brow Shaping to Perfection
        • Begin the eye brow shaping process by balancing your eyebrow so that it is proportionate with the rest of your face. Look in the mirror and place imaginary lines (or a pencil) across your face to match the lines shown here. Do this on both sides of the nose and pluck only in between. Be careful about the distance between the inner brows and the length of the brows.

          A. Imagine a vertical line going up from the outside of your nostril towards your forehead. The inner part of the eyebrow should converge with this line.

          B. A straight line going out from the outside corner of your nostril past the outer corner of your eye marks the end of your eyebrow.

          C. Your arch should be found two thirds of the way from your inner eyebrow.

      • Eye Liner
      • You can use an eye pencil instead of eye liner to create the same effect.

      • How to Apply Eye Liner to Change the Way Your Eyes Look
      • The purpose of eyeliner is to frame and define the contour of your eyes in order to draw attention to them. Pencils used for lining eyes should be soft and smudgy, so they do not drag the skin around the eye during application.

      • More Round
        • Use eyeliner to outline the contour of your eyes at the base of the eyelashes and continue toward the outer corner, thicken and "wing" the line upward.

      • More Oval
        • Start a fine line at the base of your eyelid, thicken it in the middle, and draw it toward the outer corner of your eyes.

      • Close Together
        • Use eyeliner to draw a tapered line starting thick on the inner corner of your eye and narrowing through to the outer corner of the eye.

      • Farther Apart
        • Apply eyeliner and start the line away from the inner corner of your eye thickening toward the outer edge and extend it slightly upward.

      • Larger
        • Trace a fine line of eye liner around the contour of your eye and also draw a fine line at the base of the upper and lower lashes for more definition.

      • Cosmetic Mascara
      • Cosmetic mascara is used to make the eyelashes look thicker and darker. It is available in neutral shades such as black, dark brown, and dark gray and it is also available in navy, blue, clear and a host of other fad colors.

      • Using Clumpless Cosmetic Mascara
        • Sometimes the wax in the mascara crystallizes and clumps up which keeps it from going on smoothly. To avoid the clumps during application, use a thin short wand to get into the corner lashes and always wipe the wand lightly with a tissue before you apply it. You may apply more than one coat if you want but always allow the first coat to dry before applying the second. You can also apply it on the bottom lashes or not depending on the effect you are trying to achieve. Always take it  into the inner corners of the top lashes.

          1. Hold a magnifying mirror slightly above your face and position the mascara wand vertically straight in front of you. Lightly stroke down the bottom lashes, moving from the inner to the outer corner of the eye. Wipe off any excess on a tissue.
          2. Lift your chin while looking down, then, starting in the middle of the upper eyelash, apply cosmetic mascara in upward parallel strokes through your top lashes from below the upper lashes combing them upwards, and working your way out to the edges.
          3. Apply a couple coats to the edges. Try blinking on the brush.
          4. Look slightly down into the mirror; brush the wand from the root to the end of the uppermost top lashes. Then work diagonally from beneath and, after that, with a straight movement.
          5. Use an eyelash comb or a second wand to brush through stuck eyelashes or clumps of cosmetic mascara.
      • Apply Blush Using the Proper Cheek Colors and Brushes
      • Apply blush to enhance the shape of your face. Blusher is so versatile; it can add natural color to the face, enhance and contour the cheeks, highlight the cheekbones, soften a prominent cheekbone and warm up the skin. Regardless of the reason you choose to apply blush, you need to be able to apply the color to the exact area in order to create the effect you want.

      • Directions to Apply Blush
          • Blush has a tendency to darken with body heat, so make sure you apply blush sparingly. And always apply color cosmetics in natural light whenever possible so you know exactly what your make up will look like.

            1. Find the apple of your cheek by smiling into a mirror. Choose a good blusher brush. Then, pick up some blusher color with the brush and shake off the excess.
            2. Brush the cheek color lightly over the apple of the cheek using short, up-and-down vertical strokes moving toward the top of your ear in a teardrop shape with the thinner part at the top and the wider part pointing toward your nose.
            3. Blend into your foundation and at the hairline, with one soft horizontal motion on the top of the vertical strokes, without brushing any color onto the hair.
            4. If it looks like you have too much blusher. Dust cheeks with powder to tone down the color.
            5. If you still feel that you need a little more color on your face, you can add a little blush across your forehead by brushing a very slight coat of cheek color just above the eyebrows.
      • Selecting the Right Blusher Colors
      • You need to choose blusher colors from either the warm or cool palette, depending on the undertone of your skin. If you have a cool skin undertone you will want to apply blush colors that are cool such as pink or mauve. If you have a warm undertone you will be more comfortable with colors that have yellow or orange tones.

      • Eye care Tips
        • Dip wads of cotton in a chilled mixture of cucumber and potato juice. Keep this on your eyelids for 15 to 20 minutes and gently wash it off. Apply a little baby oil.
        • For long eyelashes, apply a thin coat of castor oil every night. It strengthens lashes and cools your eyes.
        • Massage your lips with coriander leaf juice for soft and rosy lips.
        • Massage a few drops of coconut oil around the eyes to get rid off dark circles.
        • To reduce puffiness of your eyes, grate a potato; tie in a cloth and place the cloth over your eyes for about 15 minutes.
        • Add a small pinch of salt in water and wash for bright and sparkling eyes.
        • Mix tomato juice and lemon juice in equal quantity and apply around the eyes. After 30 minutes wash it off with cold and hot water alternatively.
        • Make a paste of sandal wood and nutmeg. Apply the paste around the eyes before sleeping and wash it off in the morning.
        • Crush a cucumber and take the juice. Add a little rose water and apply around the eyes and wash it after 30 minutes.
        • Place cotton wool swabs dipped in cold milk on closed eyes for removing dark circles.
